You take something light, fun, and wholesome like Sesame Street, then recontextualize it with something awful and banal like racism, spite, or murder. Meanwhile the sincere racist is just trying to convince you that some race is legit evil.
I think my favorite of the racist ones is were Ernie tries to get Bert deported to "China or wherever he's from" when Ernie realizes Bert is yellow. Like oh shit, it just hit him his friend is the wrong color, and he's not sure what that means but gotta take action.
