What do you think about the current state of Russian animation? A lot of studios are pumping money into the industry in recent years and shows like Leo & Tig and Heroes Of Envell are miles better than some of their stuff from even a few years ago.

Leo & Tig somehow got on Netflix, which is why all of the English episodes were removed from YouTube. A few of the English episodes are still on dailymotion, though.

I hate russian 3d animation. Probably because they don't give artistic freedom to big projects and try to emulate disney and fail due to lack of money.

Russian 3D animation is leagues better than Chinese 3D animation. Russia has problems, but they do allow more room for creativity than some similar countries.

There are a lot of different Russian cartoons of varying qualities here. They're mostly newer ones, so a lot of 3D CG stuff. 2D is just about dead everywhere.

Honestly I am a bit disappointed. Soviet Era Russian animation is unlike anything else in the entire medium, but the modern stuff is boring and derivative. I figured at least one oligarch would take interest in the medium and try and create something spectacular, but it hasn't happened. Same with the Saudis, there has to be one goddamn prince who is super into animation and has the money to blow on a show.
