>Reflektor
Arnie Tiptree isn't a powerful man. His mayor bro despises him. But he is a good engineer. And in his little junkyard in Brazil, the (white) man creates a suit made out of "hyper-reflective" materials that bounce back any energy that he receives, allowing him to be near invisible. He uses it to go on crime sprees in foreign countries, and blame it on the locals.
While Carol is dealing with a normal supervillain, she gets asked to get involved with a simple robbery. She expects Reflektor to be a normal threat--except that she cannot land a hit on him. Any punch she makes, the energy gets dissipated. Or, it gets reflected, landing her on her behind.
So, she ends up getting defeated by a common bank robber. And when she tries to figure out who he is, she runs afoul of that aforementioned brother. So now, Carol has to deal with 2 things she hates: a villain she can't just punch, and a complicated political system.
>Violet
She is an energy creature that has existed through the last few centuries, borne by the disruption of humanity to the cosmos. Created to watch over humans--and disgusted by their violent nature. She has decided that humanity needs to be replaced, starting with their arrogantly violent cosmic guardian--Captain Marvel. (Violet, like that poster wanted, can make herself intangible at will. And, as a creature made of cosmic energy, completely overrides Carol's cosmic awareness, putting her into a haze of confusion upon arrival. )
>Superior Carol
Carol's always felt like such a screw-up.
But what if there was a version of her who never did Civil War II, was never an alcoholic, never actually was absorbed by Rogue?
Well, that better version crosses over into 616's universe. Carol's immediately jealous of this better version of her, and she should be. This version of her is objectively better.
Except that this version's parents was killed by Iron Man. And so 616 Carol has to defend Tony Stark from a version of Carol who is superior.
