>>102510939I mean it wasn't complete shit for a comedy book, but the book is totally ludicrous. Not only did they forget about every single hero living on the West Coast on purpose, but they also make dumb excuses to not use others. Yeah, you don't have to explain everything, but Kate has a history. She has a team. Why wouldn't Billy, Teddy, David and Tommy help her if she needs help? They're her team. I'm not sure where Cassie is but I'm sure she would've gone too. The only one they tried to explain is Noh-Varr and even that's ludicrous because it's canon they're in friendly terms.
There's also how the new team forms, Gwenpool and Quentin appear out of nowhere. In the case of Quentin is worse because have they even met before? What is Quentin doing on LA? And Gwenpool? Hell, what is Clint doing in LA? would've been more credible if he was in NY and suddenly America takes him.
Also, the fact the characters are so one note unidimensional doesn't help at all. All America does is being angry. Kate only has two modes, bossy and dramatic. And that new guy is a literal blank in terms of anything related to personality. I would be surprised if they even bothered writing a description for him that say anything other than 'Absorbing Man who is dating Kate'. Not to mention he has red shirt written all over him. Gwenpool and Quire are the ones that are written the best though, that I'll admit.
All in all, it's trash entertainment, ironically, quite like the Reality TV they're trying to ape on.
