>>102289340>>102289431According to Ed Catmull's book, when the Disney/Pixar merger occurred under Bob Iger, Pixar enumerated a list of requirements that would have to be acknowledged in order for the merger to occur.
One such requirement was that Pixar and Disney Animation Studios operate entirely independently in terms of creative direction; they do not even share personnel (i.e.: animators, boarders, writers, are all unique to Disney or Pixar respectively, and are not considered a shared resource between the studios)
However, they absolutely *do* share CGI and technological advancements that have come about from research and development on their respective projects; there is nothing to be gained by either studio hiding improvements to workflows and pipelines, given they have the same end goal (to make good movies).
