>>102192449A lot of the shitty art fads of today, like beanmouth, noodlelimbs an lack of details got popularized by AT. Even if some shows did it before, like Flapjack, it's thanks to AT that they got popular.
The difference is that it worked in AT due to the context being a childish-like world, mimicking that of the pastel-colored kindergarden books. It makes sense for the characters not to have a nose because it's a style you'd see often in those type of books, for example. However others just took them ignoring if it would be fitting or not for the story they wanted to tell, so you end with a show that is basically the kids' version of Twin Peaks having characters with potato heads and flaccid limbs, despite it being a poor choice for the story they wanted to tell.
Basically it's the Watchmen effect.
Another fault, that is actually a fault in AT itself, is that it was a gateway for "hipster humor". I'm talking about those "jokes" that usually end in "Pfft yeah, whatever" or sticking your tongue out or going "WOOOOOOH" for 30 seconds, with open mout and large eyes for the most insignificant thing. Basically the punchline is that they act like children despite them not being such or the situation not calling for it, and that's supposed to be funny because the audience KNOWS they're acting like children, see? There are several layers of irony in this manchild parade and it's FUNNY... the first few times maybe. But this gets repeated over and over and over, until you get shows like Regular Show that revolve ENTIRELY on this kind of humor.
It's even worse when you check the twitters of the artists and they are doing the exact same "jokes". Because a 30+ yo saiying "I SQUEEZES WISHES OUT OF THE INTERNETZ" is supposed to be funny and not invoking utter despair in the faith of humankind.
