I think that this is my first time seeing this series so obviously I don't know what kind of changes have been made. But after watching the pilot I can say that I liked it, and I would watch future episodes of it if it remained the same, so let's hope that whatever changes are made in the jump to a fully-produced series only improve it.
I will say that I was very skeptical at first, very much thinking "oh great another series about an idiotic starship captain who ruins the lives of everyone around him and acts like a child". I was pretty pleasantly surprised to learn there's an actual plot reason for this and see how the other characters act in reaction. I really liked Secutor, he's fun.
