It's not the best movie, and it is actually pretty disconnected storywise, but I wouldn't say it's as forgettable as you imply. In fact, Duchess is literally the most forgettable part of it. And how could anybody forget Edgar's shenanigans and his creme de la creme? I'm pretty sure that fucking Ritz biscuit is engraved at the back of the brain of anybody who watched this movie during their childhood.

I actually like this movie a lot but I don't get why Disney still heavily acknowledges it as one of their great classics. It's really not that much better than anything else from the Bronze Age save for Black Cauldron, I'm surprised at the lasting power it had. Or maybe it's just Marie's marketability that keeps it alive.

That's pretty much it. Her toys sell like hotcakes, and even women who don't care for the movie itself tend to adore her (usually women who act like her/acted like her as a kid).
