Why are people getting into arguments over the tone?

DC's biggest problem was never that the films were too dark or dreary. It was just how they badly misrepresented their characters. Superman doesn't work as some aloof Randian hero. Batman doesn't work as some trigger happy uber violent asshole who only saves like two people on screen. Flash doesn't work as a socially awkward idiot who speaks in gibberish. They did get Wondy right, but that's not super hard.

I really didn't care what tone or attitude the Shazam trailer was going to take. It's not like Shazam doesn't have his share of dark moments or even stories. If they fuck up the character, that will be ten times worse than if they turn it into a grimdark CGI shitfest with low lighting. The same goes for Aquaman and the Birds of Prey movies, too.
