Adults have jobs, They need to pander to kids cause kids watch TV way more than the adults. If they don't pander to the kids then the show won't exist due to low viewer ratings.

i believe the point is in the 90s the showrunners were just making the cartoon they wanted and only the tv ratings system dictated what they couldnt do.
i mean, children arent as smart as we think they are, not when tv is involved. theyll sit there and absorb anything with flashy colours. pandering to them does jack.
