Hell, the school system is quite shit. Kids can learn anything as long as they're kept interested, but considering they have to work with other kids that could sports disabilities and the way they are being taught, not much can be done about that. Even with the right teacher, you'd still have some bad eggs pulling back the group. There is also a huge amount of factor and psychology that will determinate the way kids will learn, like if they are hungry, stressed, or any other state, good luck trying to teach them.
And then you have the shit tier teachers that either work there as a mean to get money, wants to be a moral compass but never could make the cut in something better, or a pedophile that uses the job as a mean to get some cheese pizzas. I went to public school and while i had some good teachers, you sometime had crackheads or raging faggots that couldn't handle the pressure. That, or some serious incompetent people that tries to pass as good teachers.
It all starts at home too, if both parents work long hours and the kids themselves are neglected from their attention, they won't do well because they lack some recognition and attention they crave. Hell, parents themselves could teach their kids maths, English, any subjects right before the school years but if they need money, then the kid has to wait it out until he's thrown into school. Doesn't help that Mothers has to go back to work as soon as possible so they cannot give the proper care needed to the child. Daycare is there, but just like teacher, they're underpaid, and cannot fully give proper care to each child. Today's system is all about forging worker, not thinkers
What pissed me off the most as a kid was how they'd shove homework after homework in your face while you go back home. You're tired like shit from the day, eight hours has passed, and somehow they want you to do more.
