Still not him. However I'm going to make a guess:
If you do not appeal to the general public's tastes, you're going to alienate them. If you alienate the general public, they're not going to watch.
The more people whose tastes you alienate, the more viewership you lose. If you want to continue your cartoon, you're going to need something to keep your viewership high or it'll be quickly become unsuccessful; possibly even dropped by the network (in this case: Netflix. But netflix will pick up anything, so that may not be the case here. May be why they went with netflix.)
But again, I don't want to put words in the guy's mouth. Just thought I'd give my opinion on this.
Ultimately, on a personal basis, I have no reason to want them to appeal to my tastes because if they wanted to appeal to mine, they would have well...not done she-ra. She-Ra itself it not to my tastes, so no matter what they do or not, I won't be watching.
So it's really not important what I think here. However I'm disappointed that the creator is painting everyone who shows any signs of criticism with a wide brush of "you just want something to fap to" or, "you're a pedophile." Or something like that. Like I said, I got not strong opinions here, but that smacks of disingenousness.
