>>101709468I disagree. Being a man out of time is an important aspect to Cap's story now. He's all about entering a world were his old ideals of freedom and hope have been corrupted by modern day cynicism, and he too wonders if he can maintain his ideals in such a world.
With magneto, the only thing important about his origin is that he experienced an emotional wound so great that it caused him to develop a fear/belief about how humans will naturally treat others who are perceived as different. The creation of that ideology within magneto is not dependent on the Holocaust or WW2, all he needs is to experience some form of racist trauma or extreme tribalism that makes him believe that humans&mutants will never be able to live in peace.
And seeing how Magneto is jewish, arguably the most hated group in the world, its not that hard to setup some event that pushes him into that state of mind. Anyway, if X-men does get into the MCU, I rather they adjust his origin to fit within a modern time period instead of saying he some how froze himself or de-aged himself. Just comes off as contrived and stupid.
