I suppose this is the right place to post it, but what did /co/ and /v/ posters on /co/ think of the Fallout: New Vegas All Roads comic?

I went in reading it expecting it to be complete fluff on par with MCU prequel material comics but it's actually a really solid story on it's own and a really good addition to the narrative.Art was good too, love the inside cover.

I thought it was great. So much so that I'm still disappointed it didn't spawn an ongoing. Lots of stories can be told in the Fallout Universe, and being able to tell them in a medium that isn't dead and empty like a Bethesda world would be fantastic.

In my fantasy reality I'd love to see a series written by Avellone covering stories in the West between Fallout 2 and New Vegas.

I'd love to see stuff like the sacking of Navarro on a page ("Kiss America goodbye, boys" would send the comickino levels off the charts) or the First Battle of Hoover Dam (and the, pun not intended, fallout of it like Graham getting burned and thrown into the Grand Canyon) or Ulysses at the Divide when shit went south. Or Elijah's descent into complete neuroticism culminating in his failure at HELIOS ONE.

God yes. If for no other reason, than I would love to see those things fleshed out. New Vegas is a great game, but there are a ton of things that just weren't explained well enough in it. That's why I like All Roads. I never bought the idea that the Three Families were living former tribals in the game, but the comic provided some background that made that notion make sense.

Aparently, at some point after Fallout 2 (perhaps during or after the NCR's sacking of the remaining Enclave territory after the Posedan Oil Rig was destroyed) the Enclave laid siege to San Francisco and the Shi, detroying it as one last "fuck you" as the Enclave gradually withdrew East, to Chicago.

This line confirming the fate of the Shi/San Fransisco in 2281 was removed due to the meddling of Bethesda.

I'd love to see a series of stories bridging the gap between FO2 and NV though----whether they be large scale conflicts like the NCR/BOS war, or the life of Mr. Bishop with allusions to the Chosen One leading Arroyo.

Why? I thought Bethesda had already decided at that point to focus on the East Coast and leave the West Coast lore alone.

That was the impression made people assumed was the case, yes. But no, someone at Bethesda----so Emil or Todd in all likelihood----basically told Obsidian to remove dialogue confirming the fate of one of their West Coast factions during NV's development, wanting due to the potential of a future game being set there by Bethesda.

If that dialogue made it into the main game iti would give yet another reason as to why the Enclave were so hated and feared, beyond all the shit they pulled in FO2.

I wish the sense of scale we got from the comic was present in the game. All Roads made New Vegas look huge, really driving home the "light in the darkness" aspect of the city. When you get there in the game though, it's not as great. I understand why it's scaled down but that doesn't make it any less disappointing.

Back to /co/ territory: I'd love for there to be an anthology comic series. They don't have to be related to the games themselves. They can follow a sort of "Tales from the Wasteland" format (maybe with a framing device). You can have it spanning the centuries since 2077 and have it be all about the adventures of the average wastelander.

In that hypothetical situation I'd love to read stories set in The Boneyard and New Reno. I've been hoping for a new game to take us back to those places but I can't see that being a thing any time soon.

Fuckin' Fallout 76. They're gonna Skyrim the fuck out of it, aren't they?

Bethesda like to seed a lot of potential future stories to use. They do it all the time in the Elder Scrolls and they did it in Fallout as well. In Fallout 3 they seeded Fallout 76 and Fallout 4, and in 4 they further seeded 76.

In Fallout 4 there's a scene that makes pretty specific reference to San Francisco and the Shi. Now, either at the time of New Vegas they were working on pre-dev for Fallout 4 and had background for one of the main characters (Kellogg) where they had him coming from San Francisco but didn't quite have the details on it yet so wanted to lock Obsidian down from doing anything that would screw with their plans (even though in the end it was completely irrelevant because the reference was so vague in detail and there's a plot point thing that Kellogg could be far, far far older than he looks due to cyber augs) or they're still planning on doing something with San Fran.

Ironically in the Fallout world LA is largely irrelevant. In New Vegas there's a character from there who's like "Yeah you probably haven't heard of it, it's not that important in the NCR". It's called the Boneyard for a reason. Adytum is basically all there is to the city, the rest is just sunbleached ruins that were freshly wiped and irradiated when the Vault Dweller nuked the Master's cathedral in downtown.

It's just a multiplayer spinoff, I don't really see the big deal. Sure, I'd rather play something like another New Vegas but you should be thankful that they're blowing their multiplayer load on a spinoff developed by a different developer rather than saddling the main series with it at least I hope so anyway.
