Yup

They lost the Disney Princess lines, so they pretty much dropped EAH and tried to do a vanilla reboot of MH making it less scary to appeal to younger audiences with more of a focus on friendship instead of fashion, and surprise that didnt work, quality got cut on pretty much all their lines, even the DC Superhero girls lines started dropping hard in quality not too long after its release, Barbie sales are also down the toilet.

EAH gave me this beautiful hybrid waifu so I'm happy. Too bad the netflix show stopped, it was quite endearing, better than descendants imho.

Why they didn’t wait until years after the franchise waned in popularity is beyond me.
As for EAH, well, good writing and visuals don’t write off the fact of how girly it seemingly is, so the series was always going to struggle. Disney’s Descendants becoming more popular didn’t help either. They tried to rebrand by focusing on “Power princess” but it was too little too late.

The Shannon Hale books are the best ones but the Suzanne Selfors series is okay. None of them will put your c-cups in a turbulent state thankfully.

EAH is dead, MH is almost dead. I just wish Mattel would bite the bullet and officially announce it's over already.
It's a damn shame because MH was the best thing to happen to girls toys in a while.

By darker tone, I meant them going into all the social gaps and expectations that destinies as a thing created. Also going more into the characters fates and how it affects them.

There's a shit ton of ways the whole rebel vs royal plot could have gone before and after way too wonderland. The whole Apple realizing that taking a risk and attempting to change destiny isn't so bad and Raven realizing that her initial reason for rejecting destiny was selfish and foolish, growing into her role as the rebel leader while dealing with her powers and her mother could have taken longer without becoming a burden on the plot.

EAH was sorta limited by it's target audience really.

It's a damn shame. A great story was there to explore, and aside from the show's visuals, it was what drew me in. But it got hampered, by trying to push a toyline. The plot got dropped after Dragon Games, and they sort of meandered afterwards. I think Mattel themselves didn't care too much about the plot, which is one of the biggest problems I have with shows based on toys.

it's a shame because it seemed to be doing such that. Where it seemed like they were trying to make "Destiny" or "Fairytale Magic" more of a force trying to get kids on the right path.

Personally was not a fan to purchase the dolls but did enjoy the idea behind it and watched the youtube series and movies when Nick aired them. After a few years the series became super toyetic at a break-neck speed.
