That said, I'm mixed on this. On the one hand, MTV is steeped in the shallow teen culture, and I feel like the show would make the show have the show treat their world-view as being rebellious and deep, instead of poking fun at the more inane elements. Daria was an activist at heart, but MTV might misconstrue that.
On the other hand, this could be the perfect counterpoint to the rest of the stuff MTV is airing right now. Jodie's always hated the (well-meaning) discrimination and offers she got for her skin color, so keeping that aspect and having her complain about shallow diversity pandering could be fun. I could also see her indulging in it to move forward in life, since we know she's willing to take unfair advantaged.
