I think I finally cracked the reason why the X-Men were so succesfull as a franchise. Anyone, and I mean ANYONE, could, and still sorta can, self-insert. Are you a black metrosexual Jew? The X-Men represent queerness! Are you a cuckold? The X-Men represent surpressed sexual desires! Are you a Tumblrina? The X-Men represent snowflakes and minorities! Are you a White Supremachist? The X-Men represent a global minority that's being killed by the (((people))) in charge, and eventually create an ethnostate!

That's literally it. Soap-Opera Drama, Sci-Fi, hot babes and the abillity for anyone to self-insert is what made them so strong. The fact that they had people from all around the world and weren't tied to the US like the Avengers or the JLA or whatever, also helped make them a big hit internationally. That's the secret formula. Question is, was it intentional, or not?
