There's multiple series based on the characters, Potato Knishes was in the Minecraft one which is the predecessor of a multi-arc sci-fi story that's pretty neat imo.
The first series is not any where near as interesting so you can skip it if you want. Mostly ratboy screwing around and meeting some characters.
The Red Planet series is good if want to give it a try. It leads to Galactic Superheroes which is 3 eps and is relevent for the current series, I recommend watching that it least. Then go to Minecraft.
