>>101050822>>101050822My GOD, those Kaminski issues were awful. It's like he never even actually read those early Tales of Suspense issues. (Actually, I'm pretty sure he didn't!) Natasha was so tame and sexless back then because it was a kids' book, and she dropped any pretention of even trying to trick him into thinking she had good intentions by her second appearance (as in, long before she even got that costume).
Kaminski treats that costume like it's literally fetish gear, and has Natasha pick up a version of it at a lingerie store. It's so dumb! Superhero costumes might all look like fetish gear, with everyone wearing their underwear on the outside, but you can't treat a serious costume like that in-universe. It was supposed to be her big upgrade to an operative who worked in the field instead of behind the scenes, not fetish fuel for Tony (who again, she wasn't trying to seduce, especially now that she was in love with Hawkeye). It was given to her by her bosses to help her destroy Iron Man, not sex him up, and the one element she added to it was a mask to match her lover Clint.
And then, Tony actually berates Natasha for joining in the fight and actively stops her from participating ... ? Natasha was literally the leader of the Avengers here -- she was in charge of Tony and she was fighting world ending threats alongside him on a daily basis. Why the hell would he treat her like a secretary? She was able to outsmart him, back in the day.
