Apart from that, aside from those awful mid-2000s minis, I find her rather well-written. She walks the line between genuinely competent woman and character with genuine emotions; angst, regret, shame, everything. It's rare to find that in those "stronk womyn" characters, because they're usually written as emotionless "badasses". Nat, however, has actual depth. Her desire to settle somewhere quiet, constantly clashing with her abilities being useful only in war-time. I mean, imagine you're an assassin, and retire. What then? Retire with whom? With another agent? You're basically carbon copies of each other. Realistically, who could Nat settle down with? Bucky? He's the male version of her. Matt? I doubt he'd ever stop, and would she be content in a small apartment? Clint? He's not really a settling-down guy, the 616 version anyway. Stark? Could it even work? So I enjoy that part of her character in general; she's kinda like Frank in that way.
As for my type, you can look at my chart. Generally I like the Action Girls who are actual characters beyond "muh badass womyn". They have vices, fears, all that jazz. Why? Not because I want a dominatrix. From my experience, the "purer' someone is on the outside, the more fucked up they are inside. So with them, you know where you're standing. Besides that, I was always of the idea that people should be equal in relationships, and I'm a rather, well... "difficult" person. I doubt I'd be able to communicate properly with a civvie, or some sweet and cute gal. I need that "edge". I have a slight Madonna/Whore complex, but it's a tad different in my case.
Plus, I love gingers, a gal who can rock the short hairdo, and a sense of style from the 50s and 60s. So, yeah, judge away...
