In the end it only functions as a warning system. Sort of a lookout post that allows message to be sent back for armies to rally for defence back at the Capital. No one actually expect the wall itself to stop anything.

The wall is so long that it is physically impossible to have enough troops to guard it. The Chinese know this. But it seems Americans two thousand years in the future do not know this.

When did the fucking huns have explosives at their disposal? They couldn't even make a civilization that stayed in one place. The huns were a bunch of nomadic people with the tech level of the native americans. Animal pelt huts and horse husbandry were their only skills. Anything else they had they just raped and pillaged from others.
