That would make for some interesting lore
I'd like to think a blacksmith from long ago had mixup and made one by accident, after that he makes all the common ones and maybe a few rares.
It could be a great story time or even a time travel episode.

It's probably like Muramasa.
Just some tough dude that got tired of using normal weapons and went on a quest to learn a new way of crafting.
I like the idea that they start as a gruff, edgy guy but over the course of the journey, becomes more happy and whimsical allowing him to make all the wacky weapons we see in the show.
Headcanon aside, we have no idea and we will probably NEVER know.

How about this, there was a ban on all real weapons and the solution was making these wacky Magiswords as an alternative.
Enough time has passed to where no one remembers what a real sword looks like

The Vambre part I don't recall but Cattus uses a Whirlwind Magisword, I would have preferred if he actually did have a normal sword
