I honestly wonder if /co/'s hatred towards Jawbreakers is due to people mistaking it for Alt-Hero. Jawbreakers honestly seems kinda inoffensive and bland for me. It's a throwback to an era that I don't particularly care about. I don't see any reason to hate it but I'm not terribly invested in its success.

Talented artists usually suck at communication. They will have a hard time getting attention if this thing becomes a marketing standard for indie comics or mainstream ones. Big 2 wont pay attention to them outside of the SNS trends either as they have just catered to the SNS crowd.

His reviews show that he has very little knowledge of the comics he's reading, much less the greater universe they exist in, what knowledge he does possess is often outdated, he will review comics from the middle of a story arc and complains that he doesn't understand what is going on, a lot of his standards for review are nothing more than his personal tastes and aesthetics, he frequently ignores context, and has done things like try to read an Aquaman comic underwater then rate it poorly because it's not waterproof. Add onto that a persecution complex, an obnoxious and aggressive fanbase, and genuine shilling on /co/. It's not hard to understand why a good portion of /co/ dislikes him. He's basically Max Landis if Max Landis didn't have industry connections, except Landis can put out an interesting story now and again.

Nobody wants to work with him without risking their own careers, publishers now likely won't touch him due to his controversial stances, and plenty of LCS' won't stock books he's associated with. He's still pretty much locked out of the industry.

But at the same time, Waid can simply point out that he had nothing to do with it, and that Antarctic Press made the decision on their own initiative. This is supported by

Meyer's company was founded after Antarctic Press backed out, Antarctic Press themselves claim that Waid had no influence on their decision, Waid wasn't a part of the retailer boycott, and Waid himself does not represent a competing business as he's a freelancer. Tortious interference is often cited against Waid but in order to successfully bring suit against him for it they'd have to prove that Waid was aware of a legal contract between Meyers and AP and that he was responsible for the breach of contract through coercion.

As far as I've seen, they've kept the story pretty consistent. They decided to drop publication because of Meyer's behavior and the protests of several LCS owners, Waid called, but that wasn't a factor in their decision. Pretty closed deal.

Well, I've read it, and I remember there was no relationship at all for the first two-thirds of what's currently available, after which the relationship had no artificial drama because it instead dealt with the fact that the two characters had to do it long distance and in relative secrecy for business reasons. D&C's claim of a contract is based entirely on email exchanges rather than a formalized contract. Webcomics, no matter how bad they are, have a natural advantage in that nearly the entire target demographic can be instantly informed of the kickstarter with no advertisement cost. From there word of mouth, hype, and fan craze take care of the rest.

The silver lining (if you hate webcomics) is that the artists often underestimate the cost of their reward promises, leading to the self-destruction of the webcomic from either a failure to deliver or a failure to keep updating the main site.

The point is, I imagine he's going to start getting less work. He's escalating his tactics.

Being a freelancer doesn't automatically absolve the company when the person constantly sperges out. At some point, Marvel is going to decide he's too much of a risk.

Because the man makes his money on outrage. So he basically poisoned himself in the industry. I mean if meyer's sues him and it does go to discovery.
