I’m sure the cartoon felt nice when it aired (I liked watching it after giving it a chance) but I’m unsure how it will go over with the new age of kids.

I remember the merch clothing were all for toddlers and they were just regular stale cardboard cutout art.

I doubt kids want to live with seeing more dank clothing choices

My fucking lord this was my shit growing up. The first season especially. The redesigns from season 2 onward were tolerable, but it annoyed me when they changed Rikochet's voice in season 3.

I do think there should be a revival, and I'm glad they're still trying.

You know, this kinda explains why it’s getting reruns at the main CN channel from Mexico from 14-15:00 each Sunday.

"Smart mark", wrestling fans that know everything's fake, never emote during matches and care more about what's going on backstage than in the ring. That's a worst-case-scenario but the general gist of it. Aiming a cartoon at them would be financial suicide.

The problem with this show was Ultimate Muscle was on the air at the same time and was superior in every way, notably because it had actual wrestling and violence in it instead of dumb cutaways and transformations. Mucha Lucha looked like a show for pre-schoolers next to it and the many emerging anime-style shows with good fight scenes.

LOVE the character designs and overall aesthetic though, if they plan to include more lucha libre and less sitcom school bullshit I'd support a reboot.
