Eventually, he runs across Hulk on one of his rampages. At first, the Hulk obviously doesn't like Cyclops as he thinks that Cyclops is too weak. However, the two of them team up against a common foe. Afterwards, Hulk runs off with Scott following him to try and stop Hulk from hurting anyone.
The first six issues or so, Cyclops teams up with or fights Banner or Hulk. This dynamic is Freudian with Banner playing the ego, Scott playing the Superego and Hulk playing the Id. Initially hostile to Cyclops for obvious reasons Hulk and Banner get accustomed with Cyclops after a while, willingly taking him along on their trip. Eventually the quest of vengeance turns into three individuals (Scott, Hulk and Banner) who have issues with control, rage and anger helping each other and trying to move on from their mistakes.
