I think most people on /co/ are indifferent or positive towards the content of TTG, most people seem to complain about spamming. There only seem to be a handful of people that genuinely dislike the show for its own merits

Adult cartoons are mostly childish humor with more grotesque and vulgar tone, it's the core reason why it attracts teens to watch them in the first place.

On the other hand I prefer cartoons that have strong wordplay or deception of expectartions, slapstick also works pretty well but no studio is willing to spend money on an animated joke.

That's a good way to put it. Personally my favorite of the Dreamworks movies is the Kung Fu Panda trilogy but I was also really surprised at how much I liked Boss Baby given how shitty the concept seems at first and given the bad reviews.

The funny thing about BatB is that it actually has some pretty dark episodes like Chill in the Night or Emperor Joker.

I think that's partly because they never want to really take hard positions and just take the safe, centrist position of thumbing their nose at both sides. I'm not saying that having your characters shill hard for one side against the other is necessarily good but when you try to make political commentary staying in the centrist lane and always trying to pretend to be above it all ends up being boring.

Voltron Legendary Defender is the best thing Dreamworks has ever made behind Prince of Egypt
Pixar is profoundly overrated. Their only good film is Toy Story 1. The Incredibles is one of the most unpleasant films ever made, narratively and visually, and the sequel looks just as horrendous.
Man of Steel and BvS are great movies
Guardians 2 is objectively better than 1 and only plebs disagree.
Removing Death from Infinity War was a great idea. Thanos' new motive is far better.
Zootopia is overrated as hell
Fraction's Hawekeye is hipster nonsense, so is Mark Waid's Daredevil and all books of a similar strain.
Ed Edd and Eddy is a bad show with a vomit-inducing artstyle, grating voice acting, and a cast of the same annoying archetype repeated again and again.

I gotta take offense to the Critic being shit, though. It pulled off the cutaway gags much better than Family Guy did and pulled off its overall plots and characterization much better. The only aspect I can agree with is aging well, but only in the sense it's been about twenty years since it premiered.

I partially agree with this. I think season 3 is still entertaining, but not as good as the first two for sure; largely because I agree that Rick and Morty "flanderized itself." That, plus it took itself a little too seriously, which is arguably related to the flanderization. It's kinda like the post-revival Futurama episodes, where the writers had to stick in a melancholic/bitter-sweet/cutesy episode every season because the Seymour episode is so remembered.

That said, I feel the hate for Rick and Morty on /co/ predominantly derives from 4chan's obsession with being "counter-culture," and thus hating anything that's popular.

tl;dr I still enjoy the show (so far), but I do think it's showing some signs of decay already.

I prefer the writing to children's cartoons that came out between 1992-2007 because they have snappy, witty dialogue and cues because the team had to creatively circumvent the censors to deliver top-notch adult comedy, which makes shows that have no censors pale in comparison because the latter is dependent on shock value.

I also like the current cartoons from the same graduating class to come out of CalArts because they, too, are finding ways to get around the censors. I may not agree with their message, but I am impressed by their methods and strategies at how they accomplish it, especially with how puritanical the youth overseers have become when it deals with how children are treated, like they must be in a hypoallergenic self-contained anti-evil bubble at all times.

I prefer Episodic comedies over serialized, story-based cartoons. They’re easier to binge and more fun to watch.

I don't mind the show personally, but good lord is it overhyped. Especially on the platform its on- One that keeps fucking up Marvel's shows and bred a whole new legion of X/Lance shippers.

Opinion time:
>Beast Wars may be better written than G1. But any episodes with farting rhinos and Looney Tunes slapstick are automatically put on par with alien robots playing Basketball or being cast in a movie. And season 3 was the weakest of the lot.

>Simpsons may have been dealt the "zombie blow" by season 11, but the cracks were already forming as early as season 6-7. If not earlier.
