The transsexual unicorn was the network's fault, not the writers. The writers didn't even have that allegory in mind, but one of the suits went around claiming that was the idea because he thought it was good marketing.

It would make more sense if they are actually lazy enough to not draw a pair of semicircles in a recurring character than if the series were made by people that is offended by basic human anatomy
