>>100456711There's a big African-American population, and the entire country's education system has run on this kind of propaganda for years, so it's not that surprising to see Black Panther do so well. It was billed as a first-of-a-kind cultural event. And it had 50 years of well-established comic lore to draw on.
I doubt Kamala will get her own movie. KF just said there were "plans". They'll probably work her in as a side character in a Captain Marvel sequel. Then she'll make another appearance or two in other movies. And that's all IF Captain Marvel is a big enough success to start a spin-off. Which isn't a given. (Look how big BP was. You think Shuri is actually ever going to get her own movie?)
The whole time the SJWverse will be ranting about how racist Disney is for not giving Kamala HER OWN MOVIEeeeee.
I say that as someone who likes the first storyline or two of the character. I think she could hold down a movie of her own, but I doubt it will happen.
Besides that, though, the movie people would have to come up with a memorable antagonist for KK, because she doesn't have any.
