>>100394639I never really liked the original Ben 10
It came out during a time in which we were starved for cartoons with plots that matter and characters that develop. That was not the case for the original series. Ben was a dweeb who never learned anything, never tried to learn anything, and was purposefully annoying for some reason. I only really got interested in the show because it had a solid plot and concept behind it. I only really started liking the show after AF/UA because the main characters seemed more focused on doing good and trying to be better.
I was actually really upset about Omniverse because of the art style, but then I watched it and I learned that I was a big idiot because it's the best incarnation of the series.
I haven't actually watched the newest show because he's back to being a kid, the series is back to being about random adventures, and the tone is far more light hearted.
But to answer your question, 2000-2010 wasn't actually a great era for cartoons. Sure we got Avatar and a host of other great shows, but we also got shit like Johnny Test, The Cramp Twins, Coconut Fred, and Pelswick. Regardless of what you think of this era's cartoons, all of those terrible cartoons are leagues worse than nuPPG or Apple and Onion (which some people actually don't hate on /co/)
the 2010s are almost over and I'd rather watch an equal number of good and bad shows from 2010s than from the 2000s
