>>100368753>I know, I said the complete opposite.Hey, my bad then. When I see you say it's well planned I assume You're saying it was laid out rather than
>what now?>more serious pilaf I guessWhich is probably how it went down since Toriyama writes with his gut.
>You're so obsessed with saying frieza was shitBut I never said that.
I said his character is mediocre. Middle of the road. Average. Thematically it works very well, and tge dynamics between what he represents and other characters is strong...but the actual execution and characterization is bog standard. He's only interesting when Goku is bouncing off of him or other characters are dying at his feet, and that's way more that THEY are interesting. The ideas around him are pretty cool too, but Freiza himself is nearly incidental. You could easily swap him and Zarbon. The best he gets is right at the end.
Even Toriyama and Tori know this. It's why he shows up as a chump for Trunks (and extended material rarely tries to do anything between them) and spinoffs/continuations live to smash him up against Goku and Vegeta again. He isnt interesting unto himself or in situations with a neutral/positive leaning.
I could go more in depth with it, but basically he's a notch above Jr pre-daddy mode (again, best fight even when he was a bit dull, and an example of depth working despite not being necessary) and Raditz, but not quite a Buu (lots of interesting stuff despite simplicity) or Cell (slightly better character, VERY slight, but awful surrounding story, contrasting with Freiza's ok character and strong surrounding story).
Seriously, stop being quick to judge. If there's anything to learn from CalExit and this silly argument, it's to be a bit more open to contrary opinions.
