Where do I start reading comics? I never started cuz comics weren't available where I grew up. Also what should I start with?( DC first)

Go to a LCS and pick something that looks interesting and give it a read.

If you like it, go ahead and get it or pirate it when you get home.

I suggest you go to a comicbook store (or anyplace that sell them), look through their catalogue and buy something that you think seems interesting.
Don't fall for the Marvel/DC craze, but if you find something published by either company that seems like something you'd enjoy, go for it

Think about what sort of genres or stories you're already interested in, what characters or titles you'd be interested in reading and someone should know what to suggest and where, there's also already a tumblr page for /co/ recommendations and the rest should sort itself out as you get a feel for the stories and creative teams behind them to know what's worth your time.

there's plenty of less-than-legitimate websites where you can find scans or digital versions of old comics to download

I would highly suggest going to these since present day creators and publishers despise their audience and don't deserve to get paid.

Are you in the US? Hoopla is an amazing app for free, legal comics with a library card. You can catch up on entire volumes. Also Comixology unlimited is cheap, $7/mo for a lot of stuff. Storytimes here throughout the week and every Wednesday, win-o-threads. Use these resources to follow along and then break off into what interests you.

DC first... Grant Morrison, family. All Star, Batman, Animal Man, Doom Patrol. Also Omega Men, Flintstones.

I never read comics as a kid, didn't get into them until my late teens/early 20s.

Books that brought me in:
Alan Moore's Swamp Thing
Grant Morrison's Animal Man
Sandman
All Star Superman

They're all stuff that require no prior knowledge of the characters or worlds to dive in to (except maybe Swamp Thing which would be enhanced by reading the original Wein/Wrightson run of about a dozen issues first, but isn't required).
