When Strange first got the Time Stone, he was able to simply reverse events. Since then he learned how how look forward into possible futures at an unnatural speed. Similarly, in the comics there was usually a period before a wielder of the Infinity Stones fully grasped the extent of their godlike power. What that means is that we may have just scratched the surface of what will be done with the stones in the MCU. And that means nothing is certain.
