I protest that Carol comment but rather than start a flamewar I'll just point out that the movie's not called "Carol Danvers". She's the MC sure, but they have license to use any/all Captain Marvel lore in her movies. That's a pretty astute observation, now that you mention it. There appears to have been this paradigm shift in the 90s where Marvel stopped caring and continuity stopped mattering, but that outlook leaves Black Panther with a fat load of nothing. He had 20-30 solo issues to his name outright, and they heavily downplayed the technocracy elements. He owes his IP strength almost entirely to the post-bankruptcy years.
