Japanese humor is honestly very dated. This is coming from a certified weeb. The concept of subtlety does not exist there.
Japanese humor is firmly stuck in the 1940's. Its all very Laurel and Hardy. Meanwhile western humor is so fucking meta and ironic, we find japanese humor to be cringe worthy, even when it isnt lost in translation.
