>>82082366>What are the main differences between Marvel and DC comics?
Marvel as they are now started out in the 1960s. Pretty much all their major characters are from when Stan Lee was Editor in Chief. There's a few oddballs like Captain America who are older, but Lee and others were responsibly for reinvigorating them in the 60s. And a few characters from later.
Almost all Marvel characters are science fiction characters.
DC started in the late 30's and had to ride out the lack of interest in superhero stories after WWII. In the late 50's and early 60's like Marvel they were in many ways reinvigorated, but often went for a younger or more surreal audience.
They went for more traditional/classic superheroes up until 2011.>Is there no actual difference?
In the modern day? Yes. Historically? It gets a little incestuous.>Are the Avengers the same as the Justice league and perform the same role?
The Justice League will always default to the core cast. The Avengers has a more fluid line-up.>Or is there a tangible difference between the tone/atmosphere of the general universes.
Not anymore, no.
