Literally the only time the Japanese gave a shit about western adaptations is when Dragonball Evolution was so shitty is made Toriyama decide to do a proper continuation to replace GT. And not even GT itself prompted that. I guess Ghibli/Miyazaki was angry about "Warriors of the Wind," but that feels different since it was just supposed to be a dub for American audiences, not some crazy recut Godzilla style.
Meanwhile Ghost in the Shell with Black Widow didn't give any one any fits in Japan except perhaps out opposite numbers. Nor did the shitty Death Note movie. They just see it as Americans being Americans and they get to make some money on the side. Also, for Capcom, look how Resident Evil turned out. Complete, non-game compliant schlock and made more money every single time. Except once, but then it made even more than before the next time, so he gets to make Monster Hunter be a US military Isekai story. Though maybe its rampant stupidity costing them delicious Chinese moneys will change things a bit.
