Mainly because of moments like pic-related where he's constantly expected to be the bigger man and taking the high road like the trope would imply but he's really just a savage autist underneath (pretty much like every other character). Paulo is supposed to be the jerk-stereotype but he's got nothing on Mike when Mike goes on a sperg-fit.
December still has one of the most savage monologues of all time not because of what was said, but because it was Mike who was saying it. The most forgiving dude in the entire cast just calling you our for how much of a piece of shit you are. Hell, I'm not even in the "mike-was-right" camp but you have to appreciate how effectively someone can land that hard of a critical hit on another person's soul just with the power of pure rage.
A vanilla character slowly his sanity is about the only entertaining thing left in this comic.
