Shitty humor aside, it's got a serialized narrative, takes its characters' emotional arcs seriously, and it goes out of its way to look legitimately beautiful. These aspects are still a hard sell for most TV executives in charge of adult animation, so it's a miracle TBS was open to what Olan Rogers and David Sacks had proposed.
