Yes and no. QC was much more clearly inspired by John Allison's Bobbins/SGR to the point of directly borrowing Allison's habits for character dialect: The men are idiots and the women are clever/wacky but unable to speak using contractions (that second part was almost signature Allison and he's himself toned that down considerably since).

That being said it's absurd to overlook the things Jeph nicked from S*P either intentionally or by circumstance: semi-random sounding title, snarktagonist, set where the author lives, slackers, and of course convincing your readers to let you quit your day job a decade before Patreon existed.
But people stopped trying to make 5 minutes hate threads about S*P once they accepted that time passes, characters change somewhat, and Randy's not a complete fucking drama queen.
