I'd say it's a lack of skill on everyone's part.
People don't have an understanding of how physics or timing even works anymore. They most likely just looked at some flashy anime fight and thought they wanted to imitate it.
This is the exact problem that Miyazaki brought up when he said he hated Otakus. He said they only look inside the industry to learn, instead of looking at the real world and understanding how things are supposed to work.
This leads to the whole thing becoming an incestuous mess that inevitably just slowly degrades in quality.
The reason OP thinks that's good is because the only comparisons out there are other even stiffer similar style shits that have been plaguing the mainstream now for years.
Take any pencil test scribble that actually good animators made and you're immediately looking at orders of magnitude greater movement.
