>>123846519Gargantia is a solidly written scifi story about a man from a downright inhuman space war get stranded away from the front lines and having to learn how to be a real human bean for the first time. The AI of the robot ship he pilots is the best character.
Madoka + the Rebellion movie is a visual stunner even if you don't like magical girl stuff.
SSSS Gridman was just an all around solid toku-style action show with a surprisingly well delivered message about facing the world instead of retreating from it. And the whole cast is just fun to watch.
Symphogear is a really dumb show, but one with a tremendous amount of heart and soul that made it an absolute treat. The animation quality dips from time to time, but the VA work and soundtrack are both stellar, and you can't say they didn't try to do something original.
One Punch Man S1 was within the last 10 years, so thats an easy include.
Personally, I'd put both Your Name and A Silent Voice on the list. Nice dramatic movies.
The Rage of Bahamut anime was waaaaaaay more fun than it had any right to be. Basically, think Miguel and Tulio from The Road to El Dorado doing a playthrough of a really over the top JRPG story. The sequel series (Virgin Soul) isn't as bad as people claim, its just not as good as the first and follows different characters.
Anyway, thats a smattering and I'm sure I'm running out of space.
