Even if Steph and Cass would have supported her because they loved her, a woman who’s very past her prime in the cape heroing department and who often recalls herself that she was incompetent in the first place, asking two more capable candidates to move out of her way for the sake of her ego, would be a pretty bad look. So much easier to erase the “toxic” interlopers and not have to deal with the implications or difficult questions.
You see this "Fuck everything else, I want the Batgirl I saw in the cartoons" is the problem people have with Babsgirl fans and Didio's push for her.
