How did you like FOX's new show Duncanville?

I did like it more than Bless the Harts. It feels a lot like the Zits comic. The little sister is cute. I like how there is a canonical shipping between Duncan and that black girl.

I thought it was alright. Definitely better than Bless the Harts. I could see myself watching a couple more episodes of this at least.

The writers seem kinda out of touch though. The parents should be about 40 (The year's 2020 and Duncan is 15, so if we assume they had him at the age of 25 then they'd have been born in 1980) but they seem like they're from a whole generation earlier.

>Mom half doesn't understand/half is scared of an electronic music festival
>Long joke about mom having trouble with the video mode on the smartphone (complete with the smartphone footage looking like it's from a camcorder with an optical zoom)
>Dad's "thing" is he has a vinyl collection of Dad Rock when he's more likely have grown up with a tape cassette/CD collection
>Mom emails Duncan articles
>Mom mentions "The Redbox"

Also cell phone use is super prominent, especially with the kids. I know people are on their phones all the time IRL but it feels like the writers are thinking "them kids and their phones amiright?"

I'm hoping this pilot is only th beginning of something better. It's a meh show that looks alright so far; the writers need to step up their game right away, though.

Honestly, despite the ugly artstyle, I like Bless the Harts more - however, I'm comparing one whole season of that to one episode of this. That ain't fair of me - I'm just hoping Duncanville's later episodes are better, that's all.

Lewd more of the mom, as well. She is the best character on this show (so far, anyway.), and she deserves it.

The overly snappy timing feels artificial, and the concept overall is generic. I didn't much care for Bless the Harts either, but that one had a personality.

I like Amy Pohler and I'm willing to sit through a few more episodes of this, but all it has done so far is make me miss shows like Golan the Insatiable, Duckman, Ginger Snaps, and Gary and his Demons. It's okay for adult sitcoms to get a little weird.

I want to go deep n dirty on his mom. The show was pretty charming, it got a couple of solid laughs in spite of being extremely formulaic. Most of the characters take one good step out of the roles they fill, but never more than that. If it makes two whole seasons, I'll be surprised but there's room to prove me wrong too.
