Yeah hi! I'm not sure this is the right place for this since most of the threads here concern hetero relationships, but as it pertains to manga/ doujin I figured I would give this a shot.

Why is it that all the super explicit graphic yaoi (the good stuff) seems to be centered around shota and young men of high-school age (not so good stuff)? I'm frankly tired of getting recommendation after recommendation for my taste in graphic content only to find one or both (or more) of the main characters are under age. Kind of a turn off for me.Is the consenting age in japan different or something?

It doesn't help that fandom doujin is made up of characters mostly of highschool age. (yuri on ice was a god send as far as consenting adults go, but most of it is still somewhat tame and fluffy by my standards) And western made art and story lines tend to come off more crude rather than lewd.

I'm not asking for downloads as I've done a lot of searching my self. Just....Whyyyyyyy?

Or am I the only person this bothers?
