I’d just tell you that like 80% of that is the social pressure to, pardon the cringe phrase, but “bring home the bacon.”
it’s like this, you post a listing for a job opening, by default, like 85% of your applicants are male. Why? I mean even look at this place, if you’re a male and unemployed, you’re automatically a NEET (which is usually bad), meanwhile if you’re an unemployed female, I mean people still kind of care but nowhere near as much as they do for men. That pressure exists everywhere, not just here, and it’s why, if you post that job listing, 85% of the applicants are male, because they’re all under huge pressure to be working moreso than women, their value to society is tied directly to their employment status basically. Then women sit around and scratch their heads about why they’re underrepresented in the workforce and still held to this 1950s “housewife” stereotype. Here’s why: because men are still held to a 1950s “breadwinner” stereotype, which nobody bats an eye to, and the consequence of that is that the “housewife” stereotype still exists. So yeah that’s basically it.
remember how riot had that “women only” panel for their LEAGUE OF LEGENDS BTW video game haha that was really misguided lmao
