Oh don't worry about me, I grinded to the tail end of orange ranks and I enjoyed it, but that's because I already have a deep background in fighting games. I'm talking about laymen and general masses whose experience with fighting games is likely limited to "I played X with my brother". They likely won't have the patience to take enough beating to where you actually start learning, which is why I usually don't recommend Tekken when people go "Is this any good".
Sure you can learn slow your way, but the question is, if you're only seeing tangible improvements so slowly, can you stay motivated and stick around? And we're talking months and months, maybe years. For most people it's not worth their time, especially in this day and age where you have so many choices of games to play.
It was kinda fun watching Forsen learn T7 as his first ever fighting game, but he already gave up and quit.
