VR is failing because they are targeting autistic turbo nerds. The average people dont like the idea of a helmet with a small screen strapped to the face.
Current VR headsets are terrible for playing regular games. Their low resolution, poor FOV, and Screen Door Effect make everything that isn't indie look much worse than normal. Everybody are waiting to see if [insert other VR headsets] turns out to be great and fixes almost all of those problems. Meanwhile companies and tech journalists claim VR is projected to become a $X Billion business this year if you ignore the incredibly small userbase.
