Haven't played Guacamelee 1 or 2 but Hollow Knight is a game that takes a lot of inspiration from the Souls game in terms of tone, story telling, atmosphere, "soul recovery" mechanic, and focus on boss fights. If you're looking for a Metroidvania with minimal handholding, lots of exploring/backtracking, and challenging combat/platforming then Hollow Knight is a good bet. If you try to 100% it and do all the free DLC stuff, it will probably last 50+ hours. Not bad for a $15 indie game imo.
Also, I know it's considered the "best" ending, but wouldn't the main character knight becoming a void god and unleashing himself on Hollownest technically be a worse ending than him becoming another sealed vessel for the Radiance in the "bad" ending?
