Basically, yes. Syndicate comes off as a really poor parody of an Assassin's Creed game. The assassination missions in Syndicate are a step down from those in Unity, and the assassinations in the second half of Syndicate can get very linear. Plus the game forces you to use Jacob for most of the assassination missions rather than his sister Evie. Jacob has a few brawler exclusive moves and more health, while Evie is the more stealth oriented character and has unique skills such as the ability to deal more damage with throwing knives and can also turn invisible when crouched and staying still. But there are only two assassination missions where you can use Evie while Jacob gets to partake in seven assassination missions. It's really moronic and the skill tree upgrades in Syndicate were poorly thought out.
