Nah, you got it wrong anon. Yes the Wii was exactly as you say but the Wii U and especially the Switch feels like we're back to N64/Gamecube days in terms of being back to a more traditional console. The new Zelda game proves Nintendo is fairly confident in their hardware and being able to be on a similar playing field as MS and Sony. What's happening with Pokemon now is also proof that gamefreak can't adapt to being a full console game.
